Szeged WWTP biogas torch Renovation

Location:
Szeged, Hungary
Year of construction:
2024-2025
Szegedi Vízmű Zrt. carried out a reconstruction of the biogas flares operating at the Szeged Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant in order to maintain and improve operational safety. The facility operates biogas flares with a nominal capacity of 1,600 kW each. The refurbishment became necessary due to technical wear and aging that had occurred since their commissioning in 2006. A comprehensive overhaul was implemented, during which a modern combustion control system compliant with current regulations was installed.
As a result of the refurbishment, system stability and safety were restored, and the operator is now able to safely flare hydrogen sulfide–containing gases, preventing their release into the environment.
