Our role

A targeted energy efficiency upgrade to improve the existing aeration system, carried out by installing modern Raetts magnetic-bearing blowers.

The client

Alföldvíz Zrt.'s core business is drinking water supply and wastewater collection and treatment across Békés County, Hungary.

What we did

We replaced two 37 kW Roots blowers with modern magnetic-bearing units — a 22 kW and a 15 kW Raetts turbo blower — while maintaining the same air throughput. Magnetic-bearing turbo blowers suited to plants this small are unique on the Hungarian market; at this scale, our company is currently the only one able to install them. The project's second goal was to reconstruct the aeration grid across the entire biological treatment block: fully dismantling the existing system and building a new air distribution network with disc diffusers.

Outcome

The new, asymmetric setup responds better to the plant's fluctuating air demand throughout the day, optimizing operation and reducing electricity consumption. Based on operating experience and calculated data, the blower replacement cut the plant's energy demand by more than 30%, lowering long-term operating costs and supporting more sustainable operation.
