What we do

Less energy consumption, greater self-sufficiency

The energy demand of water and wastewater treatment facilities is exceptionally high, and keeps growing as quality requirements become stricter. To address this, we apply a two-pronged strategy: energy-saving programs to reduce consumption, and in-house energy production systems to increase plants' energy self-sufficiency.

Our solutions are based on a detailed analysis of energy consumption, and the coordinated, site-specific use of the three main energy sources — solar, hydro and biogas. By optimising our biological treatment technologies we achieve significant energy savings, while integrating solar panels, water turbines and biogas units ensures sustainable, cost-effective operation.

Energy savings at wastewater treatment plants

Wastewater treatment is an exceptionally energy-intensive process, and its extent is fundamentally determined by the technological solution chosen at each water utility facility. At existing systems, significant energy savings can be achieved through well-planned upgrades — technological modernization, equipment replacement, or a complete plant reconstruction.

Our engineering team has extensive experience and numerous references in energy-saving wastewater treatment solutions: from systems that reduce the specific energy demand of biological treatment, to aeration control based on mathematical modelling and continuous measurement. We optimise the operation of the most energy-intensive aerobic stage of wastewater treatment using our own mathematical model-based control algorithm.

For larger investments, we build integrated energy-saving technological solutions — the efficiency of our in-house ContiSeq™ biological treatment technology has been proven in numerous such projects.

Energy production at wastewater treatment plants

Water and wastewater treatment facilities carry significant energy production potential due to their own characteristics: harnessing the kinetic energy of water, solar panels installed on-site or on structures, and biogas production from organic matter. We evaluate these comprehensively at every facility and develop concept-level solutions tailored to the site's specific conditions.

Increasing in-house energy production is a key professional and strategic goal for us. The software we developed for this purpose adapts island-mode energy production to the wastewater treatment plant's specific consumption characteristics, optimises the operation of individual energy production units, and ensures the highest possible level of in-house energy production — all while protecting the stability and efficiency of the technological processes.

Data-driven energy optimisation

Our approach is data-driven: every energy concept we develop is based on a detailed, measurement-based analysis of the facility's actual energy consumption — not general rules of thumb, but the specific consumption characteristics of the given plant determine the proposed solution. Alongside our own control algorithms and energy-production optimisation software, we are also familiar with a wide range of technologies available on the market.

This approach ensures that our energy-saving and energy-production solutions deliver on their goals not just on paper, but in day-to-day operation — while protecting the stability and efficiency of the technological processes.
