Photooxidation Technology

Photooxidation technology uses targeted light energy to deliver effective disinfection of wastewater and drinking water. UV light and ozone not only neutralise bacteria but also enable the oxidation of persistent, hard-to-break-down pollutant molecules.

Key benefits

The synergistic effect of UV light and ozone delivers fast, reliable disinfection — effective even against the most stubborn pollutants.

01

Consistently powerful disinfection

At the heart of the system is a modern photoreactor housing a specially coated, elongated UV lamp. This design ensures the light reaches the entire water flow evenly and at high intensity, avoiding dead zones. The result is stable, predictable disinfection performance, regardless of the water's momentary flow rate.

02

Even the most stubborn pollutants break down

High-energy photons emitted in the VUV range trigger a powerful oxidation reaction in the water. At the same time, the process generates ozone, further strengthening the oxidising effect. The synergy between these two mechanisms breaks down even persistent, hard-to-degrade pollutant molecules that conventional disinfection methods cannot handle.

03

Fast and stable disinfection performance

Optimised air flow continuously regenerates ozone, which is fed directly into the liquid stream. This continuous replenishment ensures the disinfecting effect stays consistent for the entire operating period. As a result, the system performs reliably, quickly, and predictably even under fluctuating loads.

Applications

When is it the right choice?

It's the best choice when you want to safely reuse your treated wastewater — disinfection is a fundamental step in the water reuse process.

It also works excellently as a fourth treatment stage, where the goal is the effective removal of organic micropollutants and residues.

It also provides a reliable, supplementary disinfection stage when integrated into drinking water and other water pre-treatment processes for safe operation.
