The client
EDF DÉMÁSZ was a Hungarian electricity utility responsible for power distribution and retail across the Southern Great Plain region. Its name combined the French owner, EDF (Électricité de France), with the legacy brand DÉMÁSZ (South Hungarian Electricity Provider). The Hungarian state, through National Utility Provider Ltd. (NKM), fully acquired the French-owned EDF DÉMÁSZ Zrt. in late 2016 and early 2017. Following the acquisition, the EDF brand was dropped; the company operated under NKM for a long period before ultimately becoming part of the state-owned MVM Group through further integration.

What we did
As general contractor, we delivered the complete plant, capable of producing 10,000 Nm3/day of biogas. Our scope covered permitting, construction, and commissioning, and we continue to actively maintain the facility to this day.
Outcome
The biogas plant processes 17,000 tonnes of maize silage supplied by local agricultural producers and 19,000 tonnes of pig slurry each year. The 7.39 GWh of electricity it generates annually covers the needs of around 3,700 households, while its 6.94 GWh of thermal output heats the plant's own fermenters and nearby pig farms, and powers Karotin Kft.'s grain dryer. The digestate produced by the plant is used by local crop farms as a natural fertilizer substitute. The investment avoids roughly 16,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
