Sunwoda

The distinctive composition of wastewater from the Sunwoda battery plant in Nyíregyháza called for a purpose-built pre-treatment design. In a highly competitive tender, our company won the contract for the concept design of the plant's industrial wastewater treatment system, featuring multi-stage and custom-engineered technology.

Our role

Risk assessment and concept design for the battery plant's industrial wastewater pre-treatment system, covering emerging pollutants not yet regulated by law.

What we did

In a highly competitive tender, we won the contract for the concept design of the battery plant's industrial wastewater treatment system, featuring multi-stage and custom-engineered technology. Our work included assessing the risk that substances could remain in the wastewater even after treatment and pose an environmental risk if they reached surface or groundwater — including emerging pollutants for which Hungary had no statutory limit values at the time.

Outcome

We proposed limit values for specific substances entering natural waterways, with a focus on protecting wetland ecosystems and the quality of drinking water sources.
