Its current portfolio spans 3,500 different products, and it manufactures nearly 85 billion tablets and capsules each year across 65 manufacturing sites worldwide. What we did

TEVA Zrt. approached us to optimize internal water use at its Debrecen plant. The study had two goals. The first was to reuse and recirculate pre-treated wastewater and other used water on-site, primarily to meet the existing cooling towers' water demand — thereby displacing well water use and freeing up well water allowance. The second goal was to optimize water use in the existing water softening system: replacing municipal drinking water with properly treated well water, making it suitable for use as boiler feed water. Our study was prepared accordingly.

Outcome

The result was a feasibility study presenting alternative technical solutions to help TEVA decide on implementing water recirculation and optimizing its water softening system.
