Unilever
In line with UNILEVER's ultimate goal, we assessed the feasibility of fully recirculating and reusing the 600–700 m3/day of wastewater currently only partially treated and discharged to the municipal sewer.

Our role
Preparation of a feasibility concept design for full wastewater reuse and process water capacity expansion, presenting alternative technical solutions.
01
The client
Unilever Magyarország Kft. is one of the world's leading fast-moving consumer goods companies, present on the Hungarian market since 1991. It operates from its Budapest headquarters and Nyírbátor factory, and represents well-known brands such as Dove, Domestos, Rexona, and Hellmann's.
02
What we did
The concept covers the feasibility of fully recirculating and reusing the 600–700 m3/day of wastewater currently only partially treated and discharged to the municipal sewer, in line with UNILEVER's ultimate goal. Full water reuse is achieved through a complex, multi-stage treatment process. The factory also plans to expand its process water treatment capacity — production-grade water generation — by roughly a third, which we also designed as part of the concept.
Outcome
The result was a comprehensive concept design that lays the technical groundwork — through alternative process solutions — for full water reuse and independence from the municipal sewer network.
